MaxSolar GmbH has officially kicked off construction on a substation in Eppingen and a solar park in Gemmingen with groundbreaking ceremonies on April 28, 2025. The substation ceremony took place in the morning at Eppingen, while the solar park event was held in the afternoon at Gemmingen.
These projects are key milestones in advancing sustainable energy in Baden-Württemberg, contributing to the integration of renewable solar power. To celebrate, MaxSolar invited project partners, landowners, and local government representatives to join the project team for discussions and symbolic groundbreaking ceremonies marking the energy transition.
The substation in Eppingen will connect to a solar park with a capacity of around 60 MW, while the Gemmingen solar park, under development, will generate 56 MW. This joint effort with Gemmingen's municipality began two years ago and laid the groundwork for the substation’s planning, playing a crucial role in regional energy supply.
The project company, consisting of BürgerEnergieGenossenschaft Kraichgau eG, Heidelberger Energiegenossenschaft eG, and BürgerEnergie Karlsruhe eG, is collaborating with MaxSolar GmbH as the general contractor. This cooperation ensures vital infrastructure for the region's energy transition, with plans to develop an additional 30 MW solar park in Eppingen.
The Gemmingen solar park will incorporate cutting-edge technology, such as Agri-PV systems on five hectares, enabling both solar power generation and ongoing agricultural use. Solar trackers will optimize energy production by adjusting the panels to the sun’s position. A Direct Power Purchase Agreement (Onsite-PPA) will guarantee stable, long-term electricity procurement for part of the facility. Local residents will have the opportunity to invest in the projects through shares in Bürgerenergiegenossenschaft EGIS eG, allowing them to actively participate in the energy transition.
