Ministry of Energy and Water and Awfi Bahram Company Sign $25 Million Solar Power Agreements

KABUL(BNA): The Acting Minister of Energy and Water, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, and the representative of Awfi Bahram Mining and Processing Trading Company signed agreements for three solar power projects today in Kabul.
At a ceremony held for this occasion, Acting Minister Mansoor stated that agreements worth approximately $25 million USD were signed with Awfi Bahram Company to develop three solar power projects in Farah, Uruzgan, and Paktika provinces. These projects are expected to significantly address the electricity needs of residents in these provinces.
Mullah Mansoor highlighted that since the Islamic Emirate’s return to power, substantial progress has been made in various sectors, particularly in water and energy. These achievements reflect the support of the Islamic Emirate’s leaders and the dedication and sincerity of the officials and staff.
Additionally, Awfi Bahram Company’s Deputy, Noorullah, emphasized the importance of these projects in electricity generation and assured that the company, in coordination with various Islamic Emirate institutions, would complete all contracted projects on time and with high quality.
He also called on investors and traders to take advantage of the improved security situation in Afghanistan and invest in various sectors to contribute to the country’s development. The Islamic Emirate supports all kinds of investments and provides necessary facilities.
It is worth noting that the implementation of these projects in Farah, Uruzgan, and Paktika will produce eight megawatts of solar power, providing electricity to 5,000 households. Currently, Afghanistan has about 50 megawatts of solar power in use.
