Greek industrial group Mytilineos SA is all set to develop solar farms in the South American country Chile.
For this, the company has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA). It said that the PPA is backed by 588 MWp of solar farms that it will be building.
The company will work in Chile through its renewables and storage development (RSD) business unit. It will handle the operation and maintenance of the portfolio. As per reports, it will be supplying up to 1.1 TWh of solar annually to Chilean utility Enel Generacion Chile SA.
As per the agreement, "RSD will supply the contracted power from four solar farms of 109 MWp, 228 MWp, 165 MWp and 86 MWp," a report mentioned. These solar farms are based in Chile’s regions of Arica y Parinacota, Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo, respectively.
The Greek company acquired the four projects in 2020-2021.
With this acquisition, the company has stepped in Chile as an investor. Earlierm, it worked in Chile as an EPC contractor.
