UK-based solar heat start-up Naked Energy has secured GBP 17 million (USD 22m/EUR 20m) in a Series B funding round led by E.on Energy Infrastructure Solutions (E.on EIS). This round also saw co-investment from Barclays through its Sustainable Impact Capital, which aims to support Naked Energy's growth and global expansion.
In October 2023, Naked Energy formed a strategic partnership with German energy company E.on SE (ETR) as part of E.on Group Innovation's global accelerator program, Free Electrons. This partnership will give E.on EIS access to Naked Energy's solar thermal collectors, or Virtu, for its commercial and industrial customers. The companies plan to offer Naked Energy's technology to a global client base through a heat-as-a-service model.
Naked Energy CEO Christophe Williams emphasized the shared urgency to decarbonize heat, highlighting that heating accounts for over half of global energy consumption. As demand for renewable heat rises, the company is committed to aiding the commercial and industrial sectors in transitioning away from natural gas.
