Naturgy has commenced the construction of its largest photovoltaic installation in Spain, named Campo de Arañuelo. Situated in the municipalities of Torrecilla de la Tiesa and Aldeacentenera in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura, the project will boast a maximum power capacity of 300MWp and is projected to generate approximately 515 GWh/year of energy.
The energy company has committed over 150 million euros to the development of the Campo de Arañuelo project, which secured its Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) approval by the January 25, 2023 deadline. Naturgy obtained DIAs for a total of 18 wind and photovoltaic projects, aggregating to more than 1.3GW of total power.
In February, Naturgy obtained administrative authorization for the construction of the Campo de Arañuelo project, which will comprise 549,463 modules and 1,254 investors.
Additionally, the Official State Gazette (BOE) recently published an announcement by the General Directorate of Energy regarding the public information release concerning Naturgy Renovables Canarias’ Guía de Isora Photovoltaic Solar Plant project. Located in the municipality of Guía de Isora, province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the island of Tenerife, the project will have a nominal power capacity of 4.2 MW. It will feature 8,149 photovoltaic panels, each with a capacity of 565Wp, mounted on fixed structures. Naturgy will invest 2.45 million euros in the execution of this project.
In March, Naturgy launched the Puerto del Rosario project in Fuerteventura, with a capacity of 11.5 MW. This development propelled Naturgy’s renewable energy operations in the archipelago to over 110 MW in operation, with an additional 35 MW currently under construction.
