French renewables company Neoen SA has officially opened its 42.7-MWp Romilly-sur-Seine photovoltaic (PV) park in the Grand Est region of northeastern France.
The complex is the largest solar power generation site in the department of Aube, Neoen said in a LinkedIn post on Friday.
Build at a former military airfield, the Romilly-sur-Seine park is equipped with 78,500 panels that are expected to generate electricity to cover the annual electricity consumption of around 25,000 inhabitants, including heating. The plant’s installation took about a year, with Equans’ subsidiary Bouygues Energies & Services serving as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
Neoen secured the Romilly-sur-Seine project in a tender for ground-mounted PV capacity held by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) in 2021. The scheme was part of a larger portfolio of nine projects totalling 130.3 MWp that were successful in the competitive round and was the largest one in terms of installed capacity.
