European independent power producer nextE has announced a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 42.9 MW solar park in Romania. The PPA covers the output of what nextE claims is the largest onsite solar commercial and industrial project in Romania. The company plans to spend approximately €35m ($41m) to develop and build the photovoltaic farm, which will be equipped with 78,000 PV panels and 130 inverters. The project also includes the construction of a new substation and aims to combine power generation with agricultural activities. nextE is currently working on several renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of around 160 MWp and aims to have 500 MWp of installed capacity by the end of 2027.
In November 2020, nextE signed a PPA with Romanian cooling and heating systems manufacturer RAAL for a 7.4 MW solar park in Bistrita-Nasaud County.
