NLC India Ltd, the renewables arm of the India-based coal mining and power generation group, has secured a major power purchase agreement (PPA) for the output of its upcoming 810-MW solar park in Rajasthan. The agreement was signed with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL), marking a significant step in NLC India's renewable energy ambitions.
The project, located in the Bikaner district of northwestern Rajasthan, will be one of the company’s largest photovoltaic (PV) installations to date. Under the agreement, the Pugal Solar Park is expected to generate approximately 2 billion kWh of electricity annually, significantly contributing to India’s clean energy targets. In addition, the project will help offset around 1.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
The Pugal Solar Park is part of the Indian government’s Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks (UMREPP) initiative and was awarded to NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) through a competitive tariff-based bidding process managed by RVUNL.
"This agreement brings us closer to achieving our goal of 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, supporting India’s transition to a sustainable and balanced energy mix," said Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India.
The PPA highlights NLC India’s continued commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and contributing to India's clean energy future.
