Oman has initiated a tender process for the development of the 280-MW Al-Kamil Solar Project, marking the country's fourth solar photovoltaic (PV) Independent Power Project (IPP). The tender was issued by Nama Power and Water Procurement (PWP), the sole off-taker of electricity from Oman’s independent power plants.

The Request for Qualification (RFQ), announced on Tuesday, invites only developers—excluding EPC contractors—to participate. Interested parties must submit their statement of qualification by February 3.
Located in Al-Kamil Wal Wafi, within the Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate in northeast Oman, the solar park represents a key step in the nation's renewable energy expansion.
Oman’s existing solar portfolio includes the 500-MW Ibri II solar plant, currently the only operational facility of its scale in the country. Additionally, Oman is progressing with the development of the 500-MW Manah I and 500-MW Manah II solar projects, reflecting its commitment to advancing large-scale renewable energy projects.
This new initiative underscores Oman’s ongoing efforts to diversify its energy mix and meet its sustainability goals.
