On April 15, 2026, JDEnergy successfully hosted its overseas webinar, “Unlocking Energy Storage in Pakistan.” The event brought together leading energy experts and industry representatives to explore the critical role of energy storage in Pakistan’s energy transition, as well as practical pathways for market entry and project deployment in 2026.
Energy Storage: A Strategic Pillar for Pakistan’s Energy Transition

The webinar opened with keynote speaker Mr. Hasnat Khan, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Solar Association. He highlighted that as the share of renewable energy continues to rise, energy storage systems will play an increasingly vital role in future power systems.
Mr. Khan emphasized that energy storage not only enhances grid stability, but also significantly improves energy security and facilitates greater integration of renewable energy such as solar. He also provided insights into the current state of Pakistan’s energy market, outlining key challenges related to policy frameworks and infrastructure development.
Tailored Energy Storage Solutions for the Pakistan Market

Mr. Wolfgang Tang, Pre-sales Technical Director of JDEnergy’s Overseas Marketing Division, introduced the company’s full value-chain energy storage solutions tailored for the Pakistan market. He elaborated on implementation approaches and technical pathways for local projects, highlighting how “All-in-One” integrated solutions can enhance system safety, reliability, and scalability.
With strong product reliability and advanced technology, JDEnergy has delivered more than 2,000 projects globally, deploying over 30,000 energy storage units. Projects across Hungary, Japan, Germany, and other regions have received high recognition from customers. Mr. Tang noted that localization capability will be a key competitive advantage for companies entering emerging markets like Pakistan.
Panel Discussion: Opportunities in Pakistan’s Energy Storage Market in 2026

The webinar concluded with a panel discussion themed “What is the Smartest Way to Enter Pakistan’s Storage Market in 2026?” The session was moderated by Mr. Sikander Ishtiaq, Project Finance & Investment Specialist in CPEC and renewables.
Panelists included:
Mr. Jassen, APAC Sales Director, JDEnergy
Mr. Arfat Javed, Vice President Sales, SkyElectric
Mr. Zubair Naseem, CEO, EBR Energy
Mr. Ahmed Zia, Head of Technical Sales, Premier Energy
Mr. Saad Shakil, Manager Engineering & Business Development, Orient Energy Systems
The discussion focused on the transition from market opportunities to project execution, covering key topics such as financing feasibility, technology selection, local partnership models, and regulatory frameworks.
Mr. Ahmed Zia emphasized that the primary challenge facing the industry is not technology, but market awareness. He highlighted the importance of customer education, data-driven system design, and proper configuration, rather than simply increasing storage capacity, and called for correcting misconceptions about lithium-ion batteries.
Mr. Jassen noted that the key to entering the Pakistan market lies in combining global experience with localized implementation. He stressed the importance of long-term strategy, local partnerships, and high-standard system capabilities, adding that JDEnergy will leverage its global experience to deepen its presence in Pakistan.
Mr. Zubair Naseem pointed out that the core of energy storage lies in system capability and user trust. He stated that future competition will center on integrated solutions and delivery capabilities, with commercial and industrial (C&I) storage expected to scale rapidly as trust builds through successful benchmark projects.
From a market perspective, Mr. Saad Shakil identified the industrial sector—particularly the textile industry—as the fastest-growing segment for energy storage, and a key future application area. Mr. Arfat Javed added that energy storage is evolving from backup power to energy optimization systems, with solar-plus-storage and AI-driven energy management emerging as major trends. Mr. Naseem further noted that C&I storage is likely to become the largest growth driver in the next 2–3 years, with significantly greater potential than the highly competitive residential segment.
In terms of project economics and collaboration models, Mr. Javed highlighted that reliable power supply and cost control remain top customer priorities, with storage projects typically achieving a return on investment within 3 to 4 years. Mr. Shakil suggested that a hybrid EPC-OEM model is best suited for the development of Pakistan’s energy storage market.
Panelists also shared policy recommendations. Mr. Naseem called for reduced import duties on storage equipment and the establishment of grid-connection standards. Mr. Jassen emphasized the importance of policy stability to attract foreign investment and suggested learning from Europe, the U.S., and Japan in developing clear energy storage policies. Mr. Ahmed Zia recommended strengthening public awareness and promoting storage applications in areas such as microgrids. Mr. Arfat Javed advocated for optimizing net metering policies to encourage solar users to upgrade to hybrid systems, while Mr. Shakil stressed the need for closer collaboration between government and industry to improve technical standards and regulatory frameworks.
All speakers agreed that while Pakistan’s energy storage market is entering a rapid growth phase, scaling up will require stronger local partnerships, improved financing structures, and clearer policy frameworks.
Outlook
This webinar provided the industry with valuable insights into Pakistan’s energy storage market and reinforced the shared understanding of storage as a key enabler of the energy transition. Looking ahead, with continued technological advancements and improving market mechanisms, Pakistan is expected to unlock significant growth opportunities in energy storage.
Solar Pakistan 2026 will open on April 17 at the Expo Centre Lahore. JDEnergy warmly invites you to visit Booth M-2-7 to explore further collaboration opportunities and unlock new possibilities together.
