Renewables developer OnPath Energy has hired infrastructure consultancy AECOM as lead consultant for the 40-MW Barnsdale Solar Energy Park project in the West Yorkshire County in England.
AECOM will be assisting OnPath on various aspects of the project delivery, including planning, transport, engineering and environmental management, as well as the design of its power system, a press statement says.
Spanning around 50 hectares, the Barnsdale site will be built between Kippax and Allerton Bywater to the east of Leeds. Once commissioned, it will be capable of powering up to 13,000 local homes. The site will be connected to the Ledston Primary electricity sub-station to the southeast of the site.
Work on the project is progressing well, with various tenders for the different elements currently being finalised. Construction work is set to start early next year and take up to 12 months.
OnPath, formerly Banks Renewables, secured approval of its plans for the project by the Leeds City Council’s planning committee in 2021.
