PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC), led by the Yuchengco group, and Isuzu Autoparts Manufacturing Corporation (IAMC) have signed a contract for a significant rooftop solar installation. The project, with a capacity of 3.002-megawatt peak (MWp), will be installed at IAMC’s manufacturing facility in Laguna and is set to commence in the third quarter of 2024, with completion expected by the second quarter of 2025. Once operational, it will be one of the largest commercial and industrial rooftop solar facilities in Laguna.
IAMC President Seiji Mizutani emphasized the broader implications of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with PGEC goes beyond energy efficiency and cost reduction. It demonstrates IAMC’s commitment to Isuzu Environmental Vision 2050, supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Philippines’ Ambisyon Natin 2040.”
The installation will use state-of-the-art solar panels and inverters designed for high efficiency and reliability. The project is expected to generate approximately 4,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy annually, reducing IAMC’s dependence on external power sources and cutting its carbon emissions by about 3,000 metric tons per year.
During the signing ceremony at IAMC’s facility in the Laguna Technopark, Mr. Francisco G. Delfin Jr., PGEC President & CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, “This initiative is the latest and largest addition to our growing commercial and industrial solar portfolio, which includes various commercial, educational, and manufacturing partners. It also aligns with the Department of Energy’s goals for greater energy efficiency and clean energy use in the auto manufacturing sector. We are delighted to have Isuzu as our partner in this shared mission towards energy sufficiency and environmental sustainability.”
This project reflects PGEC’s ongoing commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions and supporting sustainable development in the Philippines.
