Poland has joined hands with the UK to support a €249 million financing deal for a solar power project in Turkey. This has been regarded as Turkey’s second-largest solar project so far.
It has been reported that the seven solar power plants will have an aggregate power-generation of 390 Megawatt peak capacity. The solar projects will power over 65,000 households annually across Bor-Nigde, Gaziantep and Sanliurfa-Viransehir provinces.
As per the authorities, the loan is arranged by Standard Chartered Bank and backed by UK Export Finance (UKEF) and Poland’s export credit agency KUKE.
They further shared that the companies will “provide key components and services, creating job opportunities, particularly in the UK’s Midlands and Poland’s manufacturing sectors.”
“The government's export credit agency (ECA) responsible for supporting deals that promote British exports, the agreement is jointly guaranteed with KUKE, the Polish ECA, and will support jobs in Poland and the United Kingdom in the renewable energy sector supply chain,” a statement released by UKEF stated.
Furthermore, it has been informed that Kalyon Enerji's new project consists of operation of solar power plants at seven separate locations.
