The Port of Tarragona has announced the extension of the administrative concession period to ERSHIP for the facilities at the Aragon wharf. This extension, which will keep the concession active for an additional ten years, until November 25, 2038, is a strategic move that promises long-term benefits for all stakeholders.
This extension is part of a broader photovoltaic installation project to promote sustainability and energy efficiency. One of the project's key objectives is creating and developing an energy community.
The port authority proudly highlighted that this pioneering initiative is among the first of its kind at the Port of Tarragona. With a budget of €2,635,000, the project involves installing photovoltaic modules in the A11, A13, and A15 networks of the Aragón dock, areas designated for the handling of open-air solids and general cargo. The total area covered by this concession spans 50,000 m².
The Port of Tarragona currently generates electricity through photovoltaic panels installed on seven port buildings. These installations are located on the roof of the administrative building of the new Border Control Point, the Customs premises, the Fishermen's Guild, part of the Port Police building, the Port Museum, and Shelter 1.
