Q ENERGY has launched construction of a new 92-hectare solar plant in Teruel, northern Spain—its fifth Spanish project this year.
The facility will feature over 75,000 solar modules on tracking systems, generating enough clean electricity to power 23,000 homes annually and avoid 15,000 tons of CO₂ emissions. Completion is expected in summer 2026.
Beyond clean energy, the project integrates biodiversity initiatives. Measures include animal-friendly fencing, bird protection systems, and the creation of a green buffer zone with hedges and native plants. A key focus is the reintroduction of the lesser kestrel, supported by nest boxes and the restoration of old field huts for breeding.
“This project reflects our dual commitment to clean energy and local ecosystems,” said Eduardo de la Hera, Head of Development at Q ENERGY Iberia. “More projects will follow this year, especially in Aragon, with a focus on involving local companies to boost the regional economy.”
