Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) has partnered with CME Solar Investment to launch a rooftop solar energy project, marking a significant step towards sustainable development in the country. The first phase, with a capacity of 2.38 MWp, will generate approximately 2.59 million kWh of clean electricity annually and reduce CO₂ emissions by about 2,460 tonnes, based on certified emissions factors.
This is the first collaboration between SEV and CME Solar to develop renewable energy infrastructure at Samsung’s manufacturing sites across Vietnam. CME Solar will oversee the entire process, from design to construction and operation, ensuring compliance with SEV’s stringent safety and quality standards.
Kim Iee Soo, General Director of SEV, highlighted the importance of the project: “This initiative demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility, contributing to a greener future for Vietnam and the world.”
Chung Dieu Tuan, CEO of CME Solar, expressed confidence in the project’s long-term impact: “Our collaboration with SEV will not only enhance energy efficiency but also support Vietnam’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.”
Samsung, which has invested over $23.2 billion in Vietnam, is committed to integrating renewable energy into its operations. This project in Bac Ninh marks the beginning of Samsung’s green transformation in Vietnam, with potential for similar initiatives across its network of factories.
The partnership between SEV and CME Solar underscores the growing trend of sustainable solutions in the industrial sector, helping to drive Vietnam’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
