Schroders Greencoat has completed the acquisition of a 100MW solar portfolio in the UK from Metlen Energy & Metals (formerly Mytilineos), a Greek multinational industrial and energy firm.
The portfolio includes three operational solar assets: Gorse Lane in Lincolnshire, Defford in Worcestershire, and Watnall in Nottinghamshire. Collectively, these assets have a combined capacity of 110MW.
This acquisition, made through one of Schroders Greencoat’s solar-focused private asset vehicles, enhances the company's status as the largest manager of operating ground-mounted solar farms in the UK, with a total capacity of approximately 1.9GW.
Lee Moscovitch, Partner at Schroders Greencoat, commented, “We are pleased to add these assets to our growing UK solar portfolio. This acquisition underscores our commitment to delivering stable and sustainable returns to our valued investors. As the renewable energy sector advances towards the UK Government's ambitious 2035 solar targets, this transaction further solidifies our position as a leading player in the sector.”
