Sitio Danao-Danao in Barangay Polopiña, Concepcion, has officially inaugurated its new Solar-Powered Potable Water System, a landmark project funded by a World Bank grant through the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project. The project, valued at 12.8 million pesos, marks a significant milestone for the province, representing the first of its kind.
The newly established system, which has a maximum capacity of 11,000 liters per day, employs advanced reverse osmosis technology to convert seawater into clean, potable water. This eco-friendly and sustainable solution addresses the pressing need for safe drinking water in the community while minimizing environmental impact.
The Solar-Powered Potable Water System is set to benefit over 213 families in Sitio Danao-Danao. The system offers clean water at an affordable rate of Php 6.00 per 20-liter container, making it a cost-effective solution that significantly improves the quality of life for local residents.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures including Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul N. Banias, Executive Assistant Niel “Beng” Tupas III, who represented Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr., Provincial Engineer Romeo C. Andig, and personnel from the Provincial Planning and Development Office. The event featured a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and the oath-taking of the newly appointed officers of the Danao-Danao Solar Powered Potable Water Association (DASOPPWAS), led by Dr. Banias.
The successful launch of this project highlights the commitment to providing sustainable and affordable solutions to water scarcity issues in the region. The collaboration between the World Bank, the Department of Agriculture, and local officials has brought a significant enhancement to the community’s infrastructure, promising long-term benefits for its residents.
