Spain has made history during the year 2023 by generating more than half of its electricity through the use of renewable energy. According to Red Eléctrica estimates, Spain ended up with a renewable quota of 50.8%, a figure that represents an increase of 8.6 percentage points compared to the results of 2022.
In this sense, the company has highlighted the forecast that both wind and solar photovoltaic energy will exceed their maximums in both production and participation in the national mix. In fact, wind power would achieve first position in the energy generation structure with a share close to 24% of the total, while photovoltaics would occupy fourth place with 14%.
On the other hand, during this year, daily records have been recorded for the share of emission-free electricity production (87.9%), the share of daily wind generation (53.8%) and the share of photovoltaic production (22.4%).
The editorial team of MINT, a training center specialized in industry 4.0, assures that “Spain is experiencing a boom in renewable energy, since it is assigned a 37.3% reduction in CO2 emissions. If he manages to apply all his plans and continue on this path, he will easily exceed this figure and reach 44.7%.”
