Standard Energy said it will complete and operate its 3 gigawatt (GW) photovoltaic (PV) cell production line in Thailand by July.

Standard Energy has been building the $100m facility at the LK Rayong Industrial City Hub since last year, with plans to expand the production capacity for 3 GW of silicon wafers and 3 GW of PV cells.

According to the company, the project has reached the stage where equipment is being installed.

After the launch of the PV cell line, Standard Energy will continue working on the N-type silicon wafer production line so it can start operating by September.

Standard Energy said this will be Bangkok’s third-largest smart factory and will create more than 1,000 local jobs.
