Statkraft Proposes 492-MW Solar Complex in Spain

Norwegian power producer Statkraft A/S is pushing its proposal to build a 492-MW solar farm cluster in western Spain through permitting, hoping to secure approval for four individual projects that will make up a complex called Zajuril.

Statkraft’s application for consent and the environmental impact statement (EIS) for three of four of those projects is currently in public consultation. The fourth project will go through the same process in the coming months, Statkraft Espana said on Thursday.

Details about the following three have been published in Spain’s official state gazette:

150-MW Pinea, 114-MW Calzadilla and 91-MW Guijo. The cluster will be rounded out with the 137-MW Ahigal-Cerezo project.

These solar farms will be installed in five municipalities in Caceres province.

Statkraft Espana said that it expects to invest more than EUR 300 million (USD 320.4m) in the Zajuril projects and have the four plants up and running in 2028.
