Taisei Corporation partners with Rizal Green Energy to promote renewables in Philippines

RGEC, established by PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC), is actively involved in the development of four solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation projects across the Philippines. These projects boast a combined capacity of 113 MW, comprising the Dagohoy Project (27 MW), San Jose Project (20 MW), Limbauan Project I+II (41 MW), and Bugallon Project (25 MW).

Aligned with the Philippines’ vision for inclusive economic growth and sustainable energy, RGEC’s endeavors contribute to the nation’s goal of increasing the share of renewable energy in its power generation mix to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040.

The solar PV projects developed by RGEC have garnered recognition through the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) funding support program, a collaboration between Japan and the Philippines facilitated by the Ministry of the Environment in 2023. This initiative not only aids in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Philippines but also aligns with Japan’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

In a signing ceremony held in Manila, Philippines, executives from Taisei Corporation, PGEC, and RGEC formalized the investment agreement. Jiro TANIYAMA, Executive Vice President of Taisei Corporation, along with representatives from PGEC, including Milagros V. Reyes, Chairman, and Francisco G. Delfin, Jr., President/CEO of PGEC & RGEC, participated in the event.

With this investment, Taisei Corporation reaffirms its commitment to advancing renewable energy projects and contributing to the realization of a sustainable society. The partnership between Taisei Corporation and RGEC signifies a collaborative effort towards achieving energy sustainability and environmental stewardship in the Philippines and beyond.
