The price of PPAS in Spain rose by 2.6% in July, according to Pexapark

In July, 24 PPAs were signed across Europe, marking a 27% increase in announced volumes and totaling 1,196 MW.

According to the latest report from Pexapark, July saw the signing of 24 power purchase agreements (PPAs) in Europe. While the number of transactions remained consistent with the previous month, the announced volumes increased by 27%, reaching a total of 1,196 MW.

The average PPA price in July rose to 51.60 euros/MWh, reflecting a 3.1% increase from the previous month. The most significant price hikes were observed in the French and Nordic markets, with increases of 5.2% and 5.1% respectively. Other markets also saw price rises, including Germany (4.3%), the Netherlands (3.7%), Portugal (2.8%), Spain (2.6%), and Italy (1.3%). However, prices slightly declined in Great Britain and Poland, by 0.2% and 0.3% respectively.

The largest PPA of the month was signed in France, where Carrefour entered into a 350 MW on-site solar deal with GreenYellow, a French renewable energy company. According to Pexapark, this is the largest decentralized solar PPA in Europe to date and the largest solar PPA ever recorded in France. The agreement will cover 350 Carrefour sites across the country over a 20-year period, with half of the projects scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

The second-largest PPA in July was a solar deal in Italy between A2A Group and Enfinity Global, totaling 134 MW. This was the only utility PPA signed during the month.

Additionally, Luxembourg saw its first-ever PPA, a 20-year on-site agreement between Enerdeal, a sister company of EDP, and Goodyear Luxembourg. The project involves the installation of a 5 MW rooftop solar system and a 2 MW carport system at Goodyear's Colmar-Berg facility, expected to generate 6.5 GWh annually and come online in the first half of 2025.
