Total Eren to develop green hydrogen production facility in Darwin

French renewables developer Total Eren is all set to develop a new gigawatt-scale green hydrogen production facility in Darwin.
The company has joined hands with the Northern Territory government in Australia. The duo has already signed an agreement for the same.
It has been informed that the Darwin H2 Hub project would include more than 2 GW of solar. The project will be constructed on a 4,000-hectare.
According to the company, “the PV installation would provide energy for a 1 GW electrolyzer that would produce more than 80,000 tons of hydrogen per year.”
The project has a target to address the domestic and international markets.
As per Total Eren Australia’s managing director Kam Ho, the partnership has enabled the company to invest in Australia and low-carbon energy sources. The company entered into the Australian market in 2018.
“Our plan is to accelerate the development of the project to supply green hydrogen and also the opportunity to provide renewable energy which supports the decarbonization plans for energy-intensive industries in the territory,” the official was quoted.
Till date, Total Eren has over 3.5 GW of renewable energy assets in operation or under construction.
Meanwhile, Total Eren has a plan to develop multi-GW wind and solar projects in various places utilizing the available natural resources.
