French energy group TotalEnergies SE has put into operation a 70MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) park in the Peloponnese region of southern Greece
The commissioning of the new plant has lifted TotalEnergies’ installed wind and solar power capacity in Greece to over 400 MW. The French energy major said it currently has more than 1 GW of renewable energy projects in its development pipeline in Greece, where it has been active since 2012.
The Xirokambi PV park is located in the Laconia region of Peloponnese and is made up of 123,900 panels mounted on fixed structures, covering some 75 ha (185 acres) of land. Built at a cost of some EUR 52 million (USD 56.2m), it is expected to produce 120 GWh of electricity annually, or enough to meet the demand of 30,000 average local homes.
TotalEnergies started building the plant in the summer of 2022. The company’s own technical team will oversee its operations and maintenance.
