TotalEnergies completes 5-MWp rooftop solar system in Indonesia

French energy group TotalEnergies announced the launch of a 4.8-MWp rooftop solar system for Indonesia-based tire cord fabrics manufacturer PT Indo Kordsa Tbk.

The photovoltaic (PV) system was set up atop Indo Kordsa's six facilities which include production, warehouse, and office buildings located in the district of Citeureup, Bogor city, West Java province.

TotalEnergies financed, installed and now operates the solar system comprised of more than 8,800 modules. The Indonesian unit of Turkey-based Kordsa Group will pay monthly while the PV portfolio generates clean electricity under the 20-year agreement.

The rooftop panels will produce some 6,800 MWh per year and help Indo Kordsa reduce its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by over 5,400 tonnes each year, the press release states.

PT Indo Kordsa Tbk's president director, Omur Mentes, noted that with this initiative the company is now the first in the country's textile industry to utilise solar panels on rooftops.
