ERS Energy Surpasses 1.5 GWh of Utility-Scale BESS Capacity Across Southeast Asia

Renewable energy company ERS Energy Sdn Bhd has surpassed 1.5 GWh of cumulative utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity across Southeast Asia, marking a significant expansion of its energy storage business.

The company said the majority of its portfolio was secured over the past 12 months. Key projects include a 520 MWh BESS project for ACEN Corp in Zambales, Philippines, together with two projects totaling 800 MWh secured under Malaysia’s inaugural Battery Energy Storage Programme.

The projects expand ERS Energy’s activities beyond solar engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning into utility-scale energy storage development and system integration.

ERS Energy works with technology partners and financial institutions across the project lifecycle, covering initial system design and project financing through to deployment and final grid synchronization.

The company said the rapid expansion reflects the growing importance of energy storage in Southeast Asia, where grid flexibility is becoming increasingly important for integrating renewable energy and supporting power-system development.

ERS Energy managing director Jonathan Kan said surpassing 1.5 GWh of energy storage capacity demonstrates the company’s execution capabilities and the confidence of its partners, lenders and regional grid operators.

The company is continuing to expand its role in utility-scale BESS as energy storage becomes an increasingly important component of Southeast Asia’s clean energy infrastructure.
