French energy giant TotalEnergies has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of Germany-based VSB Group, including shares from majority owner Partners Group and VSB’s founder.
VSB is a leading renewable energy platform in Europe, boasting a project pipeline exceeding 18GW across wind, solar, and battery storage, along with 475MW of assets under its Independent Power Producer (IPP) operations.
The acquisition aligns with TotalEnergies' ambitious goal of achieving 100GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. VSB, with operations in six European markets, will leverage its expertise in wind, photovoltaics, and storage to drive this growth.
Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of VSB Group, emphasized the significance of the deal:
“Renewable energy is the new normal. This partnership combines TotalEnergies' global reach with VSB's ability to deliver over 5GW of renewable assets in Europe in the coming years. Together, we are taking a giant step towards the energy transition.”
Founded in 1996, VSB operates 21 locations across Germany, France, Poland, Finland, Italy, and Croatia. Since 2020, it has been majority-owned by Partners Group, a global private markets firm. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval.
