TotalEnergies, Soltec Commission Another Solar Project in Spain

French energy major TotalEnergies SE said on Tuesday that it has brought online a solar farm of nearly 5 MW in a town in the Murcia region, southeastern Spain, finalising its second project in partnership with Spanish photovoltaics specialist Soltec Power Holdings SA.

The plant, named La Isla, is expected to be able to generate over 10 GWh annually. It features over 7,600 solar panels and 87 SFOne trackers made by Soltec. The site spans around 9 hectares (22.2 acres) of disused land located in the Cartagena municipality.

This is the second solar farm operated by TotalEnergies and Soltec in the region of Murcia, the other being La Asomada located in Cartagena. The La Asomada plant has been in operation since 2022.

TotalEnergies and Soltec have a joint pipeline of 412 MW of solar energy projects in development and construction in Murcia, which they say is the fourth top producing region of solar in Spain.
