Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and South Korea's LS Electric have recently engaged in discussions aimed at advancing energy sector collaboration between the two countries.
During the meeting, Dr. Koo Ja-Kyun, Chairman of LS Electric, presented the company's latest initiatives in developing smart grid technologies, applying digital tools, and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the performance and management of power systems.
He also highlighted LS Electric’s plans to expand into high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The company is actively working with partners to introduce small modular reactor (SMR) solutions, targeting applications in distributed energy networks, data centers, and low-emission infrastructure.
On Vietnam’s side, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An reaffirmed the utility’s commitment to modernizing the country’s power infrastructure under the updated Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8). Key priorities include the integration of renewable energy, deployment of advanced energy storage, and the digitalization of grid operations to enhance national energy security and sustainability.
The dialogue reflects growing momentum for bilateral energy innovation, as both countries navigate the transition to smarter and greener power systems.
