Vortex Energy kicks off construction of renewable projects in Poland

Polish renewable energy company Vortex Energy has kicked off construction of a portfolio of renewable projects.

The projects include 53MW of onshore wind and 57MW of PV solar.

The latest development comes after its acquisition of Vortex Energy, as this is in alignment with Vitol’s commitment to deploy US$1bn of capital in renewable energy in Poland over the next five years, a local report mentioned.

As per the company, the projects are likely to have completion in 2024/2025. The projects will lead the company towards becoming a leading renewables independent power producer in Poland and in Europe.

The projects are expected to provide around 180GWh of energy annually, addressing the needs of 93,000 households.

It has been informed that the Nomad Electric will handle the engineering, procurement and construction delivery on the 57MW PV solar portfolio. Likewise, Nordex will supply turbines for the onshore wind projects.

Vortex Energy chief executive Maciej Peplinski  was quoted in a statement,

"The strategic change of business model opens a new chapter in the history of the Vortex Energy Group, enabling the construction of wind and PV farms with the intention of growing Vortex as one of the leading independent power producers in Poland.”

So far, Vortex Energy informed that it has delivered over 450MW of operational renewable generation capacity in wind and solar.  The company has a development pipeline of over 3GW of wind and solar and 2GW of battery energy storage.
