Worldwide Holdings Berhad (WHB) and TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd (TRe) have officially marked their collaboration for the development of a 150 MWp (100 MW AC) Centralized Solar Park (CSP) in Bernam Jaya, Selangor.
The Heads of Terms (HoT) agreement was signed by Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria, CEO of WHB Group, and Mohd Zarihi bin Mohd Hashim, Chairman of TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd, in the presence of dignitaries including YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation.
This collaborative effort solidified through the HoT signing, follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) inked between the State of Selangor, TNB, and WHB. The CSP project, a flagship initiative in the National Energy Transition Plan (NETR), is set to cover 410 acres in Bernam Jaya, contributing green solar power to the National Grid. The joint development and ownership model includes participation from Selangor State Government Related Entities, SMEs, and Bumiputera Cooperatives.
Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria expressed WHB’s commitment to expanding its energy portfolio and fulfilling its role as a key player in Selangor’s renewable energy sector. The collaboration signifies the dedication of companies aligned with the Federal and State Governments to foster business opportunities and stable investments in clean and sustainable energy projects.
Norazlina highlighted the collaboration with TRe as a strategic move, leveraging their expertise in TBB asset development and management to enhance project risk management efficiency.
TRe, as the main developer, is partnering with WHB to advance the CSP project’s development, including site identification, financing, and other crucial aspects. Selangor, with the completion of this ceremony, emerges as the first state to achieve such a level of progress in the CSP project. The finalized HoT will facilitate detailed discussions before the Land Lease Agreement is concluded.
Both TRe and WHB are actively exploring additional opportunities for collaboration in the TBB segment in Malaysia and the broader region. This collaborative initiative is poised to drive innovation, enhance capacity, create job opportunities, and contribute to economic growth.
