Yingli Solar to supply high-efficiency Panda N-type modules for 1.25GW Middle East mega PV power plant

Yingli Energy Development Co., Ltd. (Yingli Solar) has secured an agreement to supply 1.25 GW of their high-efficiency Panda N-type TOPCon PV modules for the Saad 2 PV project in Saudi Arabia. This significant project, part of the third round of PV plans by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), is developed by ACWA Power, a leading renewable energy developer in the Middle East.

The Saad 2 PV project stands as a substantial renewable energy endeavor with a total installed capacity of 1,255 MW, making it one of the largest in the region. ACWA Power leads the project’s development, while Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited and SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. (SEPCOIII), both under PowerChina, handle the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) aspects.

Yingli Solar’s partnership in this venture further solidifies its position as a global leader in PV module supply. This collaboration follows their involvement in the 575 MW Ibri 2 project in Oman, signifying the recognition of Yingli Solar’s product quality and performance by project owners and partners.

Chairman Yin Xulong expressed confidence in advancing renewable energy propagation in the Middle East through this project. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ renewable energy plan, contributing significantly to the nation’s clean energy goals. Additionally, the use of Yingli Solar’s N-type Panda TOPCon technology is expected to gain prominence in the evolving PV market, contributing to the global aim of carbon neutrality.
