The 370 GWh annual virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) covers electricity from two major Romanian projects: the 1.3 GWp Dama Solar project and the 300 MW Dunarea East Wind Farm.

BUCHAREST, Romania – November 5, 2026 – Rezolv Energy, an independent renewable energy producer backed by Actis and Mubadala, has signed a 10-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with international retail group Ahold Delhaize. The agreement covers renewable electricity generated by two of Rezolv Energy’s major projects in Romania: the 1.3 GWp Dama Solar project and the 300 MW Dunarea East Wind Farm.

The agreement covers 370 GWh of renewable electricity annually, making it one of the largest corporate renewable energy agreements in Southeastern Europe. It is also among Romania’s first multi-technology PPAs to combine solar and wind generation in a single deal.

Together, Dama Solar and Dunarea East are expected to generate approximately 2,580 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to nearly 5% of Romania’s total electricity consumption in 2025. Ahold Delhaize will contract approximately 14% of the combined output and receive Guarantees of Origin for 10 years, starting when both projects become operational in 2029.

The agreement marks the first virtual PPA covering both projects and Rezolv Energy’s eighth VPPA in Romania and Bulgaria. It is also the company's first such agreement with a retailer, highlighting growing corporate demand for large-scale renewable electricity in the region.

Two Major Renewable Energy Projects

Dama Solar is a 1.3 GWp solar project located in Arad County, western Romania. Once operational, it is expected to become the largest onshore renewable energy project in the European Union. Covering more than 1,000 hectares, the solar park is projected to generate approximately 1,800 GWh of clean electricity annually.

The project also includes an 82-hectare nature reserve, demonstrating an effort to integrate biodiversity protection into large-scale renewable energy development.

Dunarea East is a 300 MW wind farm located in Constanța County, Romania. It forms part of the wider Dunarea East & West development, one of Europe's largest onshore wind projects.

Both projects were awarded Contracts for Difference (CfDs) in Romania’s second CfD auction in 2025, supporting their development and long-term revenue visibility.

Strengthening Corporate Demand for Renewable Energy

The VPPA reflects the growing role of corporate power purchase agreements in financing and supporting large-scale renewable energy projects. By securing renewable electricity through long-term contracts, companies can support new generation capacity while advancing their sustainability and decarbonisation objectives.

For Rezolv Energy, the agreement further strengthens its position in Southeastern Europe’s renewable energy market. The company has a portfolio of approximately 2.8 GW of large-scale renewable energy projects in operation, under construction or in late-stage development across Romania and Bulgaria.

Its portfolio also includes the 461 MW VIFOR Wind Farm in Buzău County, Romania, whose first phase entered commercial operation in October 2026, and the 225 MW St. George solar park in Bulgaria, commissioned in May 2026.

As corporate demand for clean electricity continues to grow, long-term agreements such as this VPPA are expected to play an increasingly important role in accelerating renewable energy investment across Southeastern Europe.
