DH2 Energy Secures Victory in Pilot EU Green Hydrogen Auction with 35-MW Project

A project of Spanish renewable hydrogen developer DH2 Energy has been selected in the European Hydrogen Bank’s pilot competitive auction, the results of which were announced on April 30.

DH2 Energy’s Hysencia project, located in Plasencia del Monte close to Huesca in Spain’s Aragon region, includes the installation of a 35-MW electrolyser powered by a captive 49-MWp solar photovoltaic plant, the company explained on Thursday. The hydrogen produced will be used in the industrial and mobility sectors.

DH2 Energy deputy general director Vincent Tesse expressed satisfaction with being among the seven winners in the extremely competitive process, where 132 bids were submitted, of which 119 were considered eligible and competed in the final round.

The fact that five out of the seven winners are located in Spain and Portugal underscores the importance of the Iberian Peninsula in Europe's renewable hydrogen production, the company also said.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S (CIP) 1 GW secured of awards in the European Hydrogen Bank’s pilot auction, where the winning bids were well below the ceiling price of EUR 4.50 (USD 4.81) per kg.
