Private energy group DTEK announced today that first power has flown from its debut renewable power projects outside Ukraine, a wind and solar power sites with a combined capacity of 113 MW in Romania.
DTEK has brought live the 60-MW Ruginoasa wind farm in Lasi County. Equipped with 10 Vestas turbines, the facility required a total investment of EUR 107 million (USD 116.5m).
The Ukrainian firm has also switched on the EUR-43-million Glodeni solar project in Mures County. The 53-MWp site delivered the first power to the local grid operator Transelectrica on January 5.
The newly commissioned sites will produce about 225,000 MWh of clean energy annually, enough to power more than 58,500 homes and reduce carbon emissions by 58,000 tonnes per year.
DTEK worked with contractors Eximprod Engineering, Tractebel Engineering and Electromontaj on the wind farm, while Ostenweg, Risen, Ideematec, Krone Solar and Energobit were hired for the solar project. Construction works on both facilities started in March 2023.
Realised by Netherlands-based DTEK Renewables International (DRI), the two assets in Romania mark the company’s first projects from an EU portfolio that will span Italy, Poland, Romania and Croatia and target an installed capacity of 5 GW by 2030.
