German solar and wind farm operator Encavis AG is in the process of acquiring a 26-MWp solar project with a ready-to-build status in England, gearing to start construction “as soon as possible.”
The Hamburg-based company said in a bourse filing on Tuesday it is buying all shares and rights in the Chiltern Renewables Hockliffe solar park from Industria Brand Energy Ltd. The value of the purchase was kept under wraps.
To be located in the village of Hockliffe, around 40 miles (64.4km) from London, the photovoltaic (PV) park is planned to start feeding electricity into the grid in the first half of 2023.
Encavis intends to start building the plant shortly and eventually sign a power off-take deal for its future output. Before the contract is sealed, the electricity will be sold on the market.
“We will start construction of the solar park in Hockliffe as soon as possible and sign an attractive Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) once we have acquired a larger portfolio of additional solar parks in the UK,” said Mario Schirru, chief investment officer of Encavis.
