Brazilian utilities company Eneva has kicked off the commercial operations at the 692.4 MW Futura 1 solar complex in Brazil.
The solar complex is located in Juazeiro City in Bahia state.
The operation at the Futura 1 solar complex began after the company received the necessary permits from Brazilian regulator Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (ANEEL).
According to Eneva, it invested 3.2 billion reais ($639.6m) in the Futura 1 project. The solar complex consists of 22 individual solar plants with a total capacity of 692.4MW.
The company further shared that testing of operations started in April this year, while it achieved activation last month.
As per Eneva, the generated power from the solar complex will be able to address the energy needs of around 1.7 million people. This complex has been connected to the Brazilian national grid Sistema Interligado Nacional (SIN).
Meanwhile, Brazil’s total centralised solar generation capacity has increased by 8%, as per the local data, while Enerva is one of the largest solar complexes in the country.
