Since the beginning of summer, the profitability of residential energy storage systems in Germany has risen significantly. The improvement is largely driven by higher household electricity prices, increased power consumption during hot weather, and stronger generation from rooftop PV systems.
By August 2025, estimated annual profitability reached around €286/kW for 1-hour systems, €225/kW for 2-hour systems, and €161/kW for 4-hour systems. These levels reflect a noticeable rebound compared to the start of the year, highlighting the role of residential storage in capturing seasonal market opportunities.
Germany’s household energy storage market continues to demonstrate its value, offering both economic benefits for consumers and flexibility to the power system during periods of higher demand.
