Grenergy and BYD sign a strategic battery agreement for the supply of 1.1 GWh

Grenergy has signed a strategic agreement with BYD, a high-tech multinational, for the supply of large-scale storage systems through batteries with a capacity of 1.1 GWh.

Grenergy will install these devices in the first and second phases of the Oasis de Atacama project. With a total capacity of 4.1 GWh and 1GW solar, it is the largest storage project in the world and involves a total investment of $1.4 billion. The first of them is scheduled to be operational in 2024, while the second will do so during 2025.

The alliance represents one more step in the growth plan linked to energy storage, a segment in which Grenergy has a prominent position and in which it plans to invest 800 million euros to promote batteries, as revealed during the Capital Markets Day. Currently, the company has a portfolio of more than 10 GWh in different phases of development.
