Zelestra Begins Construction of 38.5 MWdc Detershagen Solar Project in Germany

Germany — Renewable energy company Zelestra has started construction of its 38.5 MWdc Detershagen solar project in Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, marking the company’s second solar project in Germany to enter construction.

The Detershagen project was awarded through Germany’s EEG tender process and will comprise approximately 62,000 solar panels.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate around 40,200 MWh of clean electricity annually and avoid approximately 13,300 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. Construction is expected to support around 55 jobs, with full commercial operation targeted for Q2 2027.

Detershagen is one of several German projects Zelestra plans to bring into construction during the second half of 2026, alongside the company’s first German battery energy storage system (BESS) project.

Zelestra recently closed a tolling agreement with Centrica supporting a 297 MWh BESS project in Lower Saxony. The company has also secured a hybrid solar-plus-storage PPA with Salzgitter covering two projects in Brandenburg and Thuringia, with a combined 200 MWdc of solar capacity and 100 MW/300 MWh of energy storage.

Zelestra’s German development pipeline now exceeds 2 GW, spanning solar, hybrid, BESS and wind projects.

The company said the latest construction milestones demonstrate continued progress in moving its German renewable energy portfolio from development into delivery.
