Grenergy has signed a 15-year green power purchase agreement (PPA) with Codelco, Chile's state-owned copper giant and the world’s largest copper producer. Starting January 2026, Grenergy’s local subsidiary, GR Power, will deliver 0.5 TWh of renewable energy annually to Codelco — ensuring uninterrupted supply 24/7.
The energy will come from hybrid solar-plus-storage projects in central Chile, including the 340MW Monte Águila plant, which features a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). These assets are part of Grenergy’s expanding platform in Chile, which currently includes 4.6GW of solar capacity and 18.3GWh of storage.
With over a decade of experience and nearly 100 completed projects in Chile, Grenergy is a leading force in clean energy deployment. This new PPA adds to other major long-term contracts, such as the Oasis de Atacama project — one of the largest globally, with 2GW PV and 11GWh storage capacity.
Grenergy CEO David Ruiz de Andrés highlighted the agreement as a milestone for delivering round-the-clock clean energy, made possible by advanced battery technology. Codelco’s Executive President Rubén Alvarado added that the partnership supports the company’s goal to fully decarbonize its electricity matrix by 2030 and advance sustainable mining practices.
