Orkney wind energy firm establishes permanent HQ with £300k RBS backing

Northern Turbine Services, a specialist provider of installation, repair, and maintenance for onshore wind turbines, has secured £300,000 in funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland to purchase its leased premises in Orkney.

This move will establish a permanent base for the company, paving the way for future expansion and enhanced operational efficiency.

Founded in 2015, Northern Turbine Services specialises in the maintenance of smaller onshore wind turbines, many of which were installed when subsidy tariffs were high, providing an attractive financial incentive for the development of such renewable energy sources.

With a team of 18 employees and a turnover of £2.5 million, Northern Turbine Services plays a vital role in Scotland’s renewable energy sector. The purchase of its Orkney premises will provide stability, allowing for improved service delivery and long-term planning.
