Green Switch Capital, part of French independent power producer (IPP) Qair, has obtained planning permission for a solar project with a proposed exporting capacity of 50 MW in Essex, southeast England.
The approval was issued by the North Rochford District Council and concerns the company’s Lark Hill Solar Farm scheme, Green Switch said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.
Planned to be installed across a 66-ha (163-acre) site, the photovoltaic (PV) park is expected to generate electricity to meet the demand of around 20,970 British homes annually while offsetting some 27,950 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Details about its construction and commissioning schedule were not available in the company's statement.
Liverpool-based Green Switch became part of Qair after the French group bought a “significant majority share" in onshore wind, solar and energy storage developer. The deal from August provided Qair with access to the British company’s 15-GW-plus project pipeline.
