Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., has announced the signing of a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a major U.S.-based technology company.
Under the agreement, the company will source renewable energy from Recurrent Energy's Tordesillas solar PV project in Valladolid, located in the Castilla y León region of northwestern Spain.
With an installed capacity of 300 MWp, the Tordesillas project is expected to be operational by 2026. Recurrent Energy plans to own and operate the solar project after energization. The project is projected to generate 620 GWh annually, enough to power 188,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 161,000 tons per year.
The Tordesillas solar project strengthens Spain’s role as a renewable energy leader and contributes to the country’s decarbonization goals. Recurrent Energy’s development pipeline in Spain includes over 2 GW of solar projects and 60 MWh of battery storage capacity, further expanding its global solar and energy storage portfolio.
