South Africa's Darling Green Country Estate partners with sustainable energy solutions for the green energy revolution

In the quest for sustainability, Darling Green Country Estate emerges as a beacon of progress, championing green power solutions to shape a more environmentally conscious future. Teaming up with Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS), this esteemed estate is set to redefine community energy usage, ushering in a new era of eco-friendly living.

At the core of this initiative lies the seamless integration of solar power solutions into the fabric of Darling Green Country Estate. Through Darling Green Utility (Pty) Limited, the estate has forged a significant power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Swartland Municipality, securing the supply of 1MW of solar power to the town of Darling. This landmark agreement not only underscores the estate’s commitment to meeting its energy demands but also extends its sustainability efforts to benefit the broader community. Scheduled for operation by October 2024, the 1MW PV farm, financed and constructed by SPS, ensures that Darling Green Country Estate remains impervious to load-shedding, guaranteeing residents a dependable and uninterrupted power supply.

Moreover, Darling Green Solar (Pty) Limited has obtained approval to access the Eskom grid in Darling, enabling the estate to wheel 5MW of power from the adjacent PV solar farm. The construction of this 5MW PV solar farm, overseen by SPS and anticipated to conclude in 2025, represents a pivotal milestone in the estate’s sustainability journey, reinforcing Darling Green Country Estate’s position as a frontrunner in clean energy endeavors.

Founded in 2008, SPS boasts a formidable track record of over 175 solar and storage projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. Backed by Gridworks, a subsidiary of British International Investment plc, SPS specializes in delivering tailored solar PV and battery solutions to businesses and communities. Their portfolio includes notable projects at esteemed locations like the V&A Waterfront and Desroches Island in the Seychelles, highlighting their dedication to sustainability and innovation.

By embracing green power solutions, Darling Green Country Estate not only ensures a reliable and sustainable energy source but also cultivates a sense of community around clean energy practices. Residents can take solace in knowing that their energy needs are met in an environmentally responsible manner, contributing to a healthier planet for future generations.

As Darling Green Country Estate continues its journey towards environmental stewardship, it remains at the forefront of sustainable living, shaping a brighter tomorrow powered by green energy solutions.
