Sun Cable negotiates 300-MW solar offtake for AAPowerLink

Sun Cable Pty Ltd has signed a non-binding pact for potential power supplies from its massive Australia-Asia PowerLink (AAPowerLink) project to a mineral processing facility near Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory region.

A letter of intent (LOI) was signed with Australian resource and mineral processing technology company Tivan Ltd for the potential offtake of power from 200 MW to 300 MW of capacity. In a bourse filing last week, the mineral resources group said it will work with Sun Cable’s AAPowerLink Australia Assets Pty Ltd to develop an indicative renewable energy supply and commercial strategy for its facility and then agree on a formal power purchase agreement (PPA).
