Chinese photovoltaic (PV) inverter and energy storage system provider Sungrow Power Supply Co Ltd said it will supply its battery energy storage systems for the 200MW/800MWh Vilvoorde project of France’s Engie SA in Belgium.
The French electric utility recently launched construction of the battery, which will become one of the largest in Europe.
This will be the first energy storage project that Sungrow equips in Belgium. The company will provide 320 units of its liquid-cooled energy storage system PowerTitan. It says that due to the pre-assembled delivery, the PowerTitan saves 50% of on-site installation time, while its back-to-back installation scheme leads to a smaller footprint, making the system well-suited for big battery facilities.
Sungrow in May announced a 116.5-MW/ 230-MWh battery order in Germany. In 2023, the Chinese supplier shipped 10.5 GWh of its PowerTitan energy storage products globally.
