ACEN Provides PHP9 Billion Financing for Solar and BESS Projects in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — September 9, 2026 — ACEN Corporation, the renewable energy platform of Ayala Corporation, is providing a total of PHP9 billion (US$144 million) in financing to subsidiaries supporting new solar and battery energy storage projects in the Philippines.

The financing comes through two short-term loan agreements disclosed to the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission on September 3.

Under the first agreement, ACEN will provide up to PHP3.24 billion to its wholly owned subsidiary GIGA ACE 8 to support the construction of the 300MWdc Palauig 2 solar PV project, including associated transmission and substation infrastructure.

Palauig 2 will expand ACEN’s existing solar presence in Zambales, where the company already operates the 65MW Palauig 1 project, completed in 2021.

A further PHP6 billion loan has been provided to ACEN subsidiary Sanmar Solar to support the development of the SanMar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

The project will have a capacity of 500MW/1,000MWh and will be located alongside the existing 585MW SanMar Solar project in Zambales. The project will also make use of previously idle land affected by lahar deposits.

ACEN has identified Zambales as a major renewable energy hub, combining its solar developments with large-scale battery storage projects. The company said in July that it had 775MW/1,660MWh of BESS projects under construction in the province alongside its SanMar and Palauig solar projects.

The latest investment also builds on ACEN’s experience in hybrid renewable energy projects. In 2022, the company developed the Philippines’ first hybrid solar-plus-storage facility, combining 120MW of solar PV with two 20MW/40MWh BESS systems at its Alaminos project.

The Philippines remains ACEN’s largest market. In its first-half 2026 results, the company reported a 17% year-on-year increase in renewable energy generation and a 41% increase in revenues in the country.

With growing renewable generation and increasing demand for grid flexibility, ACEN’s latest investment highlights the accelerating role of large-scale BESS alongside solar generation in the Philippines’ energy transition.
