Hungary has launched a HUF 100 billion (about $305 million / €260 million) subsidy scheme to support residential battery energy storage, targeting households that already have rooftop solar—or plan to install it.
Under the program, eligible applicants can seek support to purchase a 10 kW home battery system, with a non-refundable grant of HUF 2.5 million per household. The government says the goal is to help families store more of their own solar power and improve long-term energy self-sufficiency.
Gergely Gulyás, the minister leading the Prime Minister’s Office, announced the initiative. Gábor Czepek, Parliamentary State Secretary at Hungary’s Ministry of Energy, said additional tender details are expected by mid-January, with applications set to open in early February.
